Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we reviewed various multiple regression problems. Some involved interpreting SPSS output to obtain beta (b) weights and the standardized (unstandardized) regression equation, interpreting R squared, and the F test on the overall model. The student and I performed calculations for problems where there was no raw data, only correlations, coefficients, and beta weights to convert back to an unstandardized regression equation. She seems very prepared for her exam next week, and is always very pleasant to work with."
"Polar coordinates and parametric equations were the concepts that we covered. The student wanted to go over these topics, as they had started yesterday, and she wanted a better understanding of the underlying facts. The student's attitude towards this material was phenomenal."
"Practiced word problems. Went over chapter review in the textbook. The student still needs to be careful with not rushing into the word problem by identifying independent and dependent variables. We'll keep working on this."
"Preparation for the upcoming test on polynomials and finding x-intercepts (solutions for said polynomials) was the main focus of this testing session. We worked on how to use the sum and differences of squares as well as other factoring techniques. The student's confidence has grown since our last visit. She has agreed to let me know how well she did by Wednesday."
"Prepared for the student's final exam. Read test questions carefully: "in a plane" holds different meaning than "in space," for example. Focused heavily on true-false and sometimes-always-never problems, as they are likely to appear on a test that has 90 questions in 90 minutes and no proofs."
"Prepared the student for his quiz on factoring and solving quadratic equations. We worked on 30 new textbook examples covering the entire scope of the quiz. He is very prepared for his quiz."
