"We went over a section of the student's textbook chapter on definite integrals. Specifically, I reviewed with her the Riemann sum and how the Riemann sum could be used to approximate the area under the curve or integral. Using this definition, we were able to determine the definite integral for any given function. I showed her a step-by-step method that will lead her to the solution for any given problem. Overall, I think it was very productive, and I hope her understanding of definite integrals has improved as a result."
"We went over basic integrals given the areas. We had to find unique integrals analytically. I also helped the student with an example that reviewed the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. She understood the extreme concept of it. It lead into us evaluating a few definite integrals."
"We went over exponential and logarithmic derivatives and reviewed some homework exercises pertaining to that topic. We also reviewed logarithmic differentiation (i.e., finding derivatives involving a variable expression raised to the power of another variable expression) and did some problems using that."
"We went over exponents, logarithms, exponential growth, and decay. The student was struggling with logarithms and growth/decay problems. I explained exponents first and built on that to explain logarithms. Logarithms were explained as where you start, where you want to go, and how you get there. After explaining the main formulas for growth/decay problems, we did a couple of examples to help with the application of the formulas. She was very engaged despite the complexity of the material. I will email her the material and examples/problems."
"We went over graphing derivatives and deducing the original function based on a graph of the derivative, as well as using the first and second derivatives to determine if a function was increasing or decreasing and its concavity. The student has extremely good command of this material."
"We went over lessons 28 and 29 today out of the student's Advanced Mathematics textbook. We first learned about factorials and abstract rate problems. Then, in the second lesson, we worked with the unit circle, fractions, and quadrantal angles. We used this section with previous material to answer problems."
