Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed ways to tell time and then began with new vocabulary, mostly nouns. We also practiced pronunciation through a couple of reading comprehension paragraphs. We made it back to nouns, which we will begin to focus on more. We reviewed regular verb conjugations of ar, er, and ir verbs. The student was given homework to complete."
"We went over the student's assigned homework, pronunciation, vocabulary acquisition, and reading strategies. The student is a fast learner, and responds well to new and more challenging exercises. I left the student with the first couple of sections of Chapter 2 for homework."
"Today we discussed another paragraph of the short story we are reading and I helped the student with pronunciation as she read a few of the sentences. I also helped her with the vocabulary and asked her questions about the story so far. She is grasping the gist of the story and improving her vocabulary. I also had her practice talking about the weather, seasons, and time using a worksheet. She did not have as much difficulty with that as last week! I asked her to read another paragraph of the short story for the next session and told her that we will also complete one last weather exercise, and then move on to the verb, "gustar.""
"Today was my first Spanish session with the pupil. She is a beginner student, so we went over the Spanish alphabet with flashcards. For extra practice, she will draw a picture of an animal or an object for each letter of the alphabet. Overall, she did great."
"In preparation for her exam tomorrow, the student was studying interrogatives by the time I arrived. Initially, she didn't understand the syntax of Spanish questions, but after explaining the simple mechanics, she caught on quickly. Eventually, we conversationally practiced where she greatly excelled. Overall, she fully understands the structure of interrogatives in Spanish and is well-prepared for her exam. We will continue in the next session."
"Today we reviewed some of the concepts that the students have worked on before, including foods and directions. They are doing really well with remembering most of what we have learned. We also went over some new animals and learned a song, "El pollito pio." They should continue to practice those animals this week."
