Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Helped the student prepare for her final. We focused on polynomial equations, specifically factoring, dividing, and foiling. We also talked about logarithmic and exponential equations and how to graph them. Session went well."
"The student and I worked on a reading she has due Friday. The reading is called "The Venus of Ille" and was originally written in French. The sentence structure and the vocabulary are quite advanced, so we spent the session reading through about five pages of the story and annotating the margins together. The student understand the plot points when we read through it together."
"For my first session back with the student, we worked on basic operations with matrices. These operations were limited to adding/subtracting and multiplying matrices by a scalar quantity and another matrix. I also showed her what practical uses matrices have for solving systems of equations."
"The student and I continued work on the assignments she has been given. We spent this session working on a letter that she is supposed to address to the novel's protagonist, which is meant to include 10 songs that she believes relate to the story. We finished writing the paragraphs for eight of the songs which she has chosen and we will complete our work on this assignment during our session today. Her English skills are coming along well and it has been a joy to work with her thus far."
"When we resumed our session after the student's class, we worked on the case study, "Will it be Worthwhile to Venture" We made significant progress dissecting the details of the case and were able to develop notes and calculations for most of the questions."
"We addressed homework problems. Given a set of data, ran a series of R routines to determine stationary trend, auto regression, heteroscedasticity. Determined best-fitting ARIMA model, maximum-likelihood structural breaks."
