Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, the student and I covered absolute values and basic algebra. The algebra included finding the value of the variable. I left him a worksheet to work on before our next session. Overall, the session was good."
"The student and I went over a couple of tests that his teacher had returned to him. He worked through various problems on the tests, and I showed him how the solutions worked out on the questions he missed. We also took the time to review partial fractions, and I showed him how completing the square can be helpful to solve a problem."
"Today, we reviewed for the student's test tomorrow. His professor emailed him the topics, so we went over the ones he didn't feel that comfortable with. We went over modular exponentials, integer representation, geometric summation, and induction. We did a few problems of each to practice more."
"The student and I have discussed many physics topics over the past week, ranging from buoyancy and forces to Young's Modulus."
"Tonight we started reviewing for the student's upcoming test next week on solving integrals using substitution as well as by parts. For the most part, he was able to work through the problems; I just pointed out to him how to choose which piece should be differentiated vs the one that should be integrated depending on what type of function each part was. He will still have to review his work to limit small mistakes and make sure he is finding correctly the derivative or antiderivative and not mixing between the two. We will continue to work on that."
"We went over solving systems of equation by combination (adding equations to each other, with our without multiplying equations by numbers so one term cancels out). The student got the hang of it quite quickly, so he needed regular encouragement to slow down and work things through carefully. He does well on the problems."
