Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, the student worked on division with decimals. He had a difficult time with understanding the place holder in division. I gave him a strategy to multiply the number in the tens place of the divisor to get a starting point."
"The student and I practiced dividing, multiplying, adding, and subtracting exponents. We then proceeded to review standardized test material for the math portion of his upcoming assessment exam testing. He did very well and appears prepared for the exams."
"Tonight we prepared for the student's test tomorrow. This included covering sections on differential equations and slope fields. We reviewed the sections and ended with practice problems to get him ready for his test."
"We worked through topics including percentage, rates, direct variation, and indirect variation problems. The student did well with these problems. We also started a quiz."
"Today we reviewed equivalent fractions on the student's homework. We also covered multiplication strategies and tricks as well as some division practice. He worked very hard as I supervised him on the problems he had some difficulty with. He was able to fix the incorrect answers and complete the page for homework. I showed him how to find the greatest common factor when finding equivalent fractions, and he was able to apply the strategy to his work. We also practiced multiplication tricks for the 3s, 4s, and 6s times tables. Next week, we will focus on division and more multiplication practice, as well as any school work."
"The student worked on two homework packets, both reviewing the two major types of relationships, directly related and inversely related. He worked on multiple problems that practiced the set up of both types and then also worked on joint variation relationships and a combined variation relationship. He had no trouble setting up and solving the homework problems on his own not did have other difficulties with the material."
