How can Computer Science tutoring help you succeed?

Whether you are a high school student taking an AP course in programming or a college student majoring in a technology-related degree program, you may more than likely need to understand computer science. In order to understand your computer science classes, you may be required to learn various programming languages, while being able to incorporate a number of mathematical formulas into your studies. For this reason, many students may quickly become overwhelmed. If you find yourself struggling to succeed in computer science, give Varsity Tutors a call. Our educational directors may find you an expert computer science tutor in Jacksonville who may design a study plan that focuses on your specific needs.

Studying computer science with a private tutor allows you to play an active role in the learning process, which isn't typically afforded to students who only learn in classroom-based lectures. Your tutor may try to help you with dynamic programming, managing databases, or pinpointing a security exploit. Rather than sit at your desk and listen to an instructor speak, private lessons give you the chance to engage with your tutor. They are able to closely monitor you as you complete exercises, giving you instructions and guidance along the way. If you are ready to get a better understanding of computer science, give us a call. Our educational directors at Varsity Tutors may connect you with a brilliant computer science tutor in and around Jacksonville, FL.

We worked on an assignment for the student's class where he needs to develop his own version of a Linked List, and then perform specific functions on it. It took us a while to see the key idea, but once we did, we started moving pretty quickly. Seeing that key idea and looking at the first solution was very rewarding. Then, towards the end, there was a bit of confusion that we worked through, and again, the clarity was a great feeling.

Multithreading was the name of the game for this session. Surprisingly, the student had a bit of trouble grasping the basic idea (usually she has no problem with that), especially why it's actually useful. However, she was able to understand the implementation well enough, and we made a lot of progress on her program! She now has a number of different ways she could do it and will probably finish it just fine.

I assisted the student with his lab projects, which covered array structures, loops, nested loops, file handling, file reading/writing, structs, identifiers, and switch statements. He seems to understand most of the material more clearly now. Thus, he maintained a positive attitude throughout the session.

We discussed the topics that are going to be on the student's chapter 2 makeup test today, including primitive data types, concatenation (of variables of different types), typecasting, random numbers, Java Math, and String methods. We also worked a little on the problem that I left him with last time. I request that he attempt to complete it before our next session. I'm reasonably confident that he will pass his test next week with the marks that he needs. We have already scheduled another session for tomorrow.

The student and I worked on two problems. The first problem was an algorithm question: get all combinations of DNA codons. We worked on thinking through the problem and structuring a solution. We also worked on a problem to find the relative dictionary location of a word.
