Tutoring review by Joe in Jackson, MO
At the session, the student and I reviewed her factoring and logarithms homework, which included questions aimed at testing the student's ability to use graphs to find logarithmic equations or use equations to produce logarithmic graphs. She and I went through some of the techniques she might use to do both. We did several drills on this. I feel like she was comfortable with the concept by the time I left. We have set up recurring sessions again on Thursdays. I'm looking forward to seeing her again!

Tutoring review by Nathan in Jackson, MO
Today, we worked primarily on power series. The student wasn't very familiar with the overall idea at first. After we went through a few examples, he understood quite thoroughly. His understanding is strong, and his retention is strong. We've been discussing - especially for tests - how to reduce tension. I recommended that he skip problems that seem too difficult and go back to them later after he's had time to refresh his mind. Overall, I suggested that he go into tests anticipating the possibility of this tension and have a plan to counteract it. Besides that, he seems very bright and only needs a bit of guidance before he picks up concepts on his own.

Tutoring review by Thomas in Jackson, MO
The student and I went over operations with radical expressions. We ended with some examples that had fractions under the radical, and he seemed to gain an understanding as we went through his homework.

Tutoring review by Vanessa in Jackson, MO
Today the student continued working on her summer math packet. She had a positive attitude throughout the session. She covered topics including systems of equations, graphing (identifying slope, x-and-y intercepts), multi-step problems where she had to identify the equation and then solve for the missing variable, and a review of properties and vocabulary (for example: distributive and associative property). She did well and remembered most of the concepts. She said she did not learn the different properties in Algebra class, so we went over them more thoroughly. We then continued working on world geography. I quizzed her over what we covered yesterday and she was able to label the locations on the map correctly. We started identifying key checkpoints and landmarks from a list given by her teacher, including important mountains, rivers, straights, and lakes. Great session!
