In a first session with a new student, I would find out what interests them so I can draw analogies from that area. I...

How can a tutor help your child master the ISEE?
If you are interested in your child attending an independent or magnet school, they may likely need to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The ISEE consists of five distinct sections, including verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, math achievement, and an essay. Verbal reasoning involves synonyms and sentence completion. The quantitative reasoning section includes data analysis, numbers and operations, geometry, and measurement. Reading comprehension involves style, logic, organization, vocabulary, and a figurative section. Finally, the math achievement section includes whole numbers, fractions, algebraic concepts, geometry, data analysis, and probability.
The ISEE is broken down into three levels. The Upper Level exam is available to students who are entering into grades nine through twelve. Students who are entering into grades seven and eight may take the Middle Level exam. The Lower Level exam is available to those who are entering into grades five and six.
