Tutoring review by Kyaw in Cudahy, WI
The student did her homework in today's session, such as figuring out sides/ angles of different polygons, determining angles of arbitrary polygons. She was able to solve most of the problems but sometimes got stuck regarding concepts involving inequality and/ or figuring out unknown variables in terms of an angle in polygons. Therefore, I provided hints and help wherever she needed it. I also clarified any questions she had over the problems. At the end of our session, she felt good about solving those problems. I also left practice problems as extra practice for her geometry final in two weeks.

We focused on graphing the trigonometric equations and how to shift/stretch them on both the x- and y-axis using various constants. Once we figured out what her teacher expects them to graph as the first period of the graph, the student was able to write up a set of formula flashcards to help her study for the quiz. We practiced drawing sine, cosine, and tangent graphs as well as how to sketch the corresponding reciprocal functions cosecant, secant, and cotangent.

We performed a vocab diagnostic to test the student's strengths and weaknesses. It seems that he has a great understanding of the test and knows how to avoid unnecessary risks to maximize his score. The only concern I saw from the diagnostic was the need to strengthen his vocabulary. We reviewed some tips and tricks towards discovering definitions to words he was unsure of. We also introduced roots and prefixes for him to review so that he could make an educated guess on unknown words. I asked him to create a word book and start filling it with vocabulary from the diagnostic.
