"The student did well today. We began with reading from the Bob book about trains, and he struggled a bit with the words and their meaning, so we moved to a more leveled book and focused on phonics. We practiced the hard g sound and matching the words with pictures. He did a very good job with no hesitation. We also did some math in the math expressions book. He knows his numbers and can match pictures to amounts. He did very well."
"The student is a hardworking. She has a good foundation with number sense and was able to add well and multiplied a couple of times as well. She struggled with estimating and rounding, so we worked on rounding and place value. She understood one step word problems well, so I added in the estimation step. I introduced a rounding hundred's chart so she had a visual of what it meant to round up or down, and she did well using that. After doing a general overview of skills, the concepts I would like to work with her on include rounding, equivalent fractions, area, perimeter, and word problems."
"The student is a joy to work with! I administered an assessment to determine letter sound recognition. This allowed me see which ones he knows and which ones to focus on in future sessions. I then used phonic flash cards where he had to say the letter and sound then match the letter to the picture. We began to segment letters and sounds in a word. In addition, we also worked on counting skills, where he had to count and circle the number of items identified. He is at the beginning stage of learning to read and will need continual support with blending and segmenting sounds. He seems to have a stronger grasp on math concepts. Good session!"
"The student is a pleasure to work with. I did run through all the topics to see where he stands. He seems to remember most of the material. His favorite game is Monopoly, so I might try to play Math Monopoly with him. He responds well to math games."
"The student is a sweet little boy with an extremely supportive mom who made it very ease to tutor her son. He is having some retention issues, which we will discuss next visit. I look forward to helping him develop ways to make math easier."
"The student is a very hard worker. She has excellent reading fluency but needs to remember to slow down and question herself. We worked on vocabulary and comprehension too. In math, she was really focused on multiplication. She knows her multiplication facts, but we need to practice 4 digit by 3 digit problems."
