"The student and I covered base-acid equilibria, how to calculate pKa and pKb values and convert those to pH or pOH. We also covered how to eliminate illogical answer choices in multiple choice questions. We went over how to approach learning and applying equations. Most of our time was spent on choosing the correct equations for equilibria and knowing when and how to apply them. We also went over a practice exam. She will let me know tomorrow after a few more practice tests how she is doing. We are really hoping for a strong grade improvement for this upcoming test. I think with a combination of logic and knowledge, she can do very well."
"We covered a large variety of topics in a broad sense as the student had an exam the very same morning. We went over rotational kinematics first, covering relationships between linear and angular variables. Much of this included the memorization of certain formulas that wouldn't be given on the formula sheet. As most of these are derivations of each other, it actually isn't that difficult. After that, we moved on to chapters of angular momentum. I made sure he knew the formulas for different types of moments of inertia. We finally went over fluid mechanics and Archimedes' Principle with respect to buoyancy and the force of gravity."
"Today, we did a review of the problems from the student's recent practice test. The test largely covered kinematics, forces, and energy. Misunderstandings were results of only small mathematical errors, and he is very well acquainted with the material conceptually. We have one more session scheduled for next week before his final."
