Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we discussed chapter 32 in detail as the student has been having difficulty with the material. We briefly addressed some material from chapter 31 as well, but the student was better able to understand most of that content prior to our session. We also ran through some topic ideas for the student's upcoming research paper for AP English. The student reported back having 90% scores on her last three quizzes and a 96% on her last unit test! The student now has an A- in her class!"
"The student and I reviewed two chapters of worksheet material covering the New Deal and the beginning of WWII. We went over many terms she was unsure of, and I quizzed her on a lot of the material to check for understanding. I also reviewed with her possible answers to a number of essay questions that are on the study guide. Her unit test on 4 chapters is on the 27th of February, so next week we will review all four of those chapters."
"Today we tried to get her caught up on the material she had missed. We began working on an assignment due on Monday and reviewed the new material. I left her with homework to get the WW2 readings done by Friday and to continue to review."
"The student did a great job tonight! Since he is done with his Geography course, we spent our time reviewing for his English midterm. His teacher provided a rough outline on the board of what would be covered on the test, so we constructed a study guide which he will work on tonight and tomorrow. He will focus on the terms and concepts he is less confident about. The test will include some SAT vocabulary, so we created a table to define each word, construct a sentence, and find an antonym for each word. The student worked very hard tonight, stayed very focused, and really pushed himself. I was so impressed!"
"Today we worked on addition and rounding. The student caught on fairly quickly to the work we were doing, even though it was at a higher level than her classwork. Her sister also did very well in her work. I will be emailing them worksheets for homework so they can continue to practice what we did today."
"We went over a practice English section the student completed. A lot of her mistakes came from similar questions. We drilled questions related to pronoun choices after reviewing her test. She will try to complete a practice Math, Reading, or Science question for our next lesson, but her schedule may not allow her to do so in time."
