Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we discussed correlation including its interpretation, causality issues, and confounding. We discussed the results from an empirical paper that used multiple linear regression and how to interpret the regression coefficients, p value for the t test on the coefficients, and the model R squared. In addition, we discussed a project that involved before and after data where the intervention is the Affordable Care Act. We discussed how the data might be set up and what types of analyses can be conducted."
"In today's session, the student worked on sight words and sentences and did well. He did single digit addition and read about fossils. He did well on all his work and has a big weekend planned! He was excited to win both hangman games. :-)"
"It was a great session. We covered Algebraic equations, LCM, and GCF. We will continue GCF in the next session. We also covered critical reading San Francisco Gold Rush . It was a great session. The student was very well prepared and ready to learn. It was an excellent session!"
"It was great seeing the student today! She told me all about her recent news with her upcoming move: I'm sure it'll go great! Today we worked on graphing quadratics by using transformations. We learned how to do this by putting things into vertex form from standard form. These problems do take a long time, so I reminded her not feel like she's not getting it simply because they take a while to complete. She's doing great!! For homework I asked her to please complete the few problems we skipped. Have a great day!"
"It was great working with the student. But generally reading the questions aloud was perfectly fine, too! She understands the rounding rules but doubts herself, even when she has the correct answer, so we can work on her confidence. We also worked on adding 0's when the numbers don't align (i.e.. 3.8 - 2.47 becomes 3.80 - 2.47), which she quickly grasped. She has a great attitude and was fun to work with!"
"Just a few notes on remembering concepts. The student is doing a great job recalling that they have gone over things in class. Once she rechecks her notes she is good to go. Her brother often sees things that he has learned previously and doesn't recall having seen it before. Both of their classes are doing a great job reviewing previously covered material, and I think that will rectify the situation."
