Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I assisted the student on a math study guide that included systems of equations, factoring, and parabolas. Some of the equations had a large amount of steps and little calculation errors along the way would end up leading to drastically different answers. We were able to get through it all successfully."
"I assisted the student with a review of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions. The student was then introduced to decimals. Using pie charts, I explained the similarity between fractions and decimals. Similarities with percentages was also explained. The student then practiced addition and subtraction of decimals."
"I began by explaining carefully what logarithms actually are (exponents), and practiced converting logarithms into their exponent form. We practiced using logarithms to solve exponential equations, and eventually derived the change of base formula. We reviewed applying the compound interest formula."
"I brought number cubes for the student to use in math problems to help her keep track of place values and physical representations in her math problems. We also worked on her next chapter in science first reading and discussing the text to ensure she understood, taking notes as well. We also read the introduction to her next novel, "Bridge to Terabithia," together."
"I checked the student's assignment book to make sure that she was writing down assignments. She had all of her homework completed except for math, so I checked her answers as she completed her worksheet. We then did a few stoichiometry problems, since that is what she is working on right now in Chemistry."
"I continued to work on the student's math vocabulary terms to prepare her for her test next week. We used the Frayer model to define like terms, perfect square, base, exponent, and coefficient. She had a great attitude during our session. I left her with a copy/upload of the Frayer model to help her continue to define the rest of her vocabulary words."
