Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student made a very efficient use of his time today. He did very well on his cursive assignment and reading comprehension assignment. His penmanship is improving remarkably, too. We also did an exercise on differentiating between verbs and adverbs."
"The student needed some help finishing up some word problems for homework. She said she wasn't sure about them, but when I had her read them out loud, she was able to figure out how to solve them easily. Then we read part of the Titanic book. I asked her multiple questions that asked her to interpret what the author was trying to say, and questions that had her thinking about what she would do if she was on the Titanic. She provided some very thoughtful answers, and had good reasoning behind each answer. We finished the session by playing a division math game."
"The student practiced her multiplication math facts. We reviewed standard and expanded form. We reviewed vocabulary words such as multiple, exponent, and power. She completed a practice page of a multiplication word problems. We reviewed her math homework and made corrections. We played 24. She is very good at that. She scored 89% on her latest math test on division. I'm so proud of the progress she has made."
"The student read "Susie and Rover", and she answered the reading comprehension worksheet associated with the story. She also learned to reduce fractions. We worked on comparing fractions by finding a common denominator and then determining which fraction was larger."
"The student remain focused in this session. We corrected her previous test (errors mostly in multiplication and naming particular properties). We then focused on multiplication with partial products and with zeros. I reminded her of the importance of working on her tables on her iPad every day. Overall, it was a great session."
"The student said that she did not have any work from class, so we did drills for multiplication and division both with finding the solutions as well as finding the inputs when we already knew the solution. We also practiced adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions with different denominators."
