Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed the rest of the exam. I broke down the proofs step by step for the student. We then went over limits of functions. We focused on the multiplication properties to make sure he understands how to apply the property to other proofs. The student seemed to understand everything at the end of the session."
"Primarily, we reviewed systems of equations using three variables. We also worked on periodic trends and properties briefly. We will probably delve into more detail of this subject in future sessions."
"We worked on inverse functions. We looked specifically at what inverse means, what it looks like graphically, what one to one means and how to explicitly solve for the inverse function. I will be creating some extra practice sheets from now on with past concepts to try to keep it all fresh."
"Today we worked on using the quadratic equation. We first went through the student's notes, then worked some problems in addition to his homework. The student seems have a good understanding of this section. We had time to work some more in depth problems in the book with further applications of the quadratic equation."
"Today the student and I worked on her study guide for an upcoming test. There were about 20-25 questions she did and she needed minimal assistance from me. We also worked on a study guide for a quiz coming up. After we finished working the problems, I made some extra problems that I thought would be helpful in the quiz preparation. Overall, this was a good productive session."
"The student and I worked today on Geometry content given by her teacher. We discussed identifying edges and counting, identifying and counting vertices, and identifying and counting faces of 3 dimensional figures. Her teacher gave her a math worksheet for homework that also contained problems we had to figure what is formed by folding the net image. The last problem set contained finding the volume of a cylinder . She did very well today and had to multiply decimals when finding the volume of a cylinder which was part of the review I had planned for her."
"The student wanted to review his most recent subject: exponents. We did 2 sheets of problems relating to simplifying equations with exponents. Once we talked about the rules and did several examples he understood it clearly. We also talked about how to quickly distribute binomials."
"We reviewed a quiz the student had in class. We also reviewed problems on the lecture material he had in the class before, which was evaluating integrals in which the integrand was a function that has a vertical asymptote."
"The student and I continued to work on algebra and math skills. We looked at real world problems, figuring out ways to manipulate kinematic equations from physics to give us the information we needed. We also practiced working with units and converting units to the desired values. We finished with having him work through a massive equation, which needs to be solved for "x." We didn't get to finish it, so I sent it home with him to work on it. No concerns."
"Continued working on ratios. Student has firm understanding of cross-multiplication. The student has a great understanding of cross multiplication. In general the student seems to have a better understanding of the current material compared to older material e.g. multiplication and long division. Began covering concepts behind graphing data, which student seemed to catch onto quickly."
"The student wanted to review his Algebra II Midterm Exam Practice Test from the top. The student definitely has a better understanding of concepts, which may have helped him regarding the review of his upcoming exam."
"We went over Integrations of: Partial Fractions, Trig Substitution and Trig Powers, Riemann sums and types, and rectangular coordinates. We discussed tutoring further tomorrow two times, right before her test on Friday. She was new to most of the concepts, so we had a full session."
