Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student asked for a little help with algebra II, as well as some biology subjects. Today, we covered a lot of algebra. We went over the operation between the numerator and denominator, and had him do some simple definitions, and left him more fundamental questions for him to practice. I asked him to write out each step in his calculation for a different way of doing things."
"Today the student worked on her math homework, which dealt with coordinate graphs, tables, and formulas. She demonstrated that she understood the material at hand and even some related algebraic concepts. She showed excellent focus and stayed on task through the entire session."
"The student and I first went over the worksheet his teacher assigned for math. It covered the areas of triangles and other polygons, and involved writing the related equations, and solving word problems. He had a few questions involving method, so we looked up the chapter in the book. He solved them using the method he preferred and did great! After math, we moved on to science, and he filled in his notebook page with details about electromagnetic waves, their properties, and the equations for them. Then he described the electromagnetic spectrum."
"The was the fourth session with this student. We continued looking at her data for her project. We got started on some of the plots. I gave her advice on how to move forward; I have also been helping her via email. She's on the right track now."
"On Monday we met for an hour and a half to prep for the student's tests this week, which have since been moved to next week. He did his entire review packet and is catching on to the mistakes he made last semester very quickly."
"We worked on vectors and how use them with algebra. We also looked at finding the direction and magnitude of vectors and the corresponding vectors when they are added and subtracted. We also did a bit of optimization problems using the derivative to maximize or minimize something."
