"The student's test was on Mendel and inheritance. We went over his slides and his book and did many problems regarding Punnett squares and inheritance."
"The student and I focused on preparing for his upcoming final exams. To start out we talked about test prep strategies to deal with test anxiety and stress by identifying a few general sources for the anxiety and how to combat each one. He said it was helpful and he identified with a few of the sources and we talked about what he could do to help feel more assured during a testing situation. We then proceeded to focus on the biology exam material and coming up with different forms of study aids for the material, including flashcards for vocab, charts and Venn diagrams for comparisons, and coming up with analogies (while recognizing the appropriate terminology used) to better remember functions and processes. For homework, I gave him a section of the study guide for each day to make a study aid or recopy his notes for and to understand by the end of that day. This would allow him to completely finish his study guide by the end of the weekend, and give him the days of Monday and Tuesday to fully review the material again and ask questions from his teacher if needed."
"Today we prepared for the student's final by covering DNA and RNA structure, transcription, translation, and pedigrees."
