Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We had both annotated and answered the questions to a paired science passage. We talked about annotating and reading for the most important parts and then went through the questions. She had done well on the questions for the most part and we talked more in depth about how to pick out the right answers by finding their exact link in the passage. We then moved onto a different question to practice reading through and annotating more quickly in order to save time to answer the questions. This method seemed to work extremely well for her. For next time, I have sent her a few different online passages to practice this new strategy with. We will also be coming up with a formulaic approach that she can use every time in the passages."
"Since tonight was the student's last tutoring session before the LSAT, he took a practice test while I timed it. Once the practice test was done, I graded it, and then we went over the questions he missed. While he still has room for improvement overall, he has grown since his tutoring began. While I originally worried that he might be unable to complete all questions within a time limit, the student was able to move at a faster pace when put in that situation. Because we will not be meeting again, I didn't give him a specific assignment, except to continue to answer practice questions every day, and to get plenty of rest before the LSAT."
"The student and I worked on logical reasoning today. She completed the logical reasoning sections of an LSAT prep test (#37) and worked through chapters 1-6 of the logical reasoning book. We discussed the questions that she got wrong (she scored 21/23 in one section and 18/25 in another) and what lessons can be drawn from our discussion. She will continue to work on the remaining chapters of the book and work on 1) prep test 62, and 2) the remaining sections of prep test 37."
