Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met for the final time before he transitions to another tutor. We continued our normal practice of reading interspersed with spelling - because he missed every word on the spelling pre-test I had him read and spell out the entire list, as well as spell the sentences I constructed for him using the spelling words. His improvement is dramatic, although he still requires some practice before he will be ready to sit for the actual spelling test. I am very proud of the progress he has made in his reading since we began working together."
"Scored the student's practice test and worked on the writing multiple choice section. The questions on grammar errors were giving him some trouble, so we practiced avoiding common pitfalls on that section -- namely, when to trust your "ear" for grammar and how to make sure your "ear" is correct. Also discussed when to omit questions and when to guess."
"The student and I continued to review questions from the last session. He is much more confident, and if he remembers to read carefully and look up information in his reference tables tomorrow, he should do much better."
"Worked through the rest of his algebra review sheet for his test on Mon. He is well prepared. If he can study a bit and remember the few hints and tricks that we went over on working through slopes of circles and tangent lines to circles, he'll be fine."
"This was our last meeting before the student takes her test. We spent some time going over some test taking strategies for her to remember. We did a review of the math formulas. She was recalling them all, and we worked through a part of each section of the test. If she performs on the test the way that she did during our sessions, she should have no problem doing well."
"The student and I went through an online exam about C++, mainly revolving around looping and some other concepts. He went through it twice and ended up getting 100% the second try, which is great! For now, he doesn't have any other material to go through, but we'll meet again in two weeks to work through a lab assignment."
