# Solving Two-Step Linear Equations with Fractions

A two-step equation has two different operations. To solve a two-step equation, use inverse operations to undo each operation in reverse order.

Example :

Solve.

$\frac{x}{5}-10=3$

Undo subtraction, add $10$ to both the sides.

$\frac{x}{5}-10+10=3+10$

Simplify.

$\frac{x}{5}=13$

Undo division, multiply both the sides by $5$ .

$\frac{x}{5}\left(5\right)=13\left(5\right)$

Simplify.

$x=65$
