# Common Difference

The constant difference between consecutive terms of an
arithmetic sequence
is called the
**
common difference.
**

**
Example:
**

Given the arithmetic sequence
$9,7,5,3,\mathrm{...}$
.

To find the common difference, subtract any term from the term that follows it.

$d=7-9=-2$

$-2$
is the
**
common difference
**
between the terms.
