Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was my first session with the student. I came to the session prepared with some introductory geometry concepts and worksheets. I don't know how much geometry he has been exposed to in previous classes, but I think that the material I brought was a reasonable mix of old and new material for him. He was easy to work with and honest, which helped me to get a good feel of how well he understood the presented material. After clarifying with him, I believe the best way to give him a good intro to geometry is to model other sessions after this one - I will bring some material with both definitions and practice questions. I hope this system continues to work for him and I expect it to give him a good idea of what to expect in his upcoming geometry class."
"MCAT: we went through a few passages of biological, physical, verbal to get an idea of where the student is, and discussed where he wants to be and in how long. We set up a plan for how to move forward starting with our session on Friday. I think he will pleasantly surprise himself when he retakes this test."
"Today we went over some more advanced problems on alkenes that the student found on the Internet. While her professor is unlikely to ask for anything of that level on the final, she is now thoroughly prepared for it."
"The student worked on a test review for chemistry. She had to differentiate between intramolecular and intermolecular forces. She had to identify the type of bond in various compounds and molecules by calculating the electronegativity difference between each atom. She also had to identify the different phase changes. She seemed to understand the material pretty well."
"In this session the student and I worked on his Geometry review to prepare for his upcoming final exam. We got half way through the review, then prepared to finish it the next day for his Tuesday test."
"Today we worked through several lessons on a coding website, focusing on "for" loops, and ArrayLists, and how they work together. The student is an intelligent boy, and making great progress. I love his enthusiasm and his great attitude."
