Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we discussed vector problems involving bearing. I demonstrated several examples for the student, then tested her comprehension by giving her problems to do on her own. She felt much more understanding about the topic after we were done."
"Math: project about modelling a data set using sine function. Physics: Ohm's Law, power formula, simple series and parallel circuits."
"Student and I worked on unit circle: terminal points, x and y values, trig values of terminal points, reference value. We also looked at trig functions: translating graphs and deriving equations from graphs."
"The material we went over today was a continuation of parabolas. We focused a lot on the shifts of parabolas, especially with coefficients. By the end of the session, the student seemed a lot more confident in recognizing parabola patterns and how to recognize a parabolic equation from a linear one. We also did some inequality work and she seems to really understand those well now."
"The student and I spent the session discussing her homework, which was on the topic of functions and their application. We reviewed linear, quadratic, and simple rational functions. We were able to go over how to identify a function by its graph or equation when given a table of values (input the x and compare with the given value for y), as well as practice factoring methods and graphing to find the x-intercepts of a quadratic equation. She is able to recognize math's importance and understands why she needs to learn it. She will be contacting me to schedule our next session sometime in the next week."
"The student did well on her first test. She said she felt really rushed, so we can work on methods to speed up her test taking. We worked on transformations of quadratic equations. She had homework on explaining the transformations and where the axis of symmetry was. She understood it at the end of the session."
