Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to work on central nervous system chapter. Using diagrams and simple drawings, the student stated that it helped him to understand the concept better."
"During this last session, an online quiz was completed that took up the duration of the session. The student did very well."
"Student A and I did a review of cells, organelles, and organelle functions. We began mitosis and cell cycle as well. Student B and I did a trigonometry worksheet, and studied present and future values with interest."
"Today we focused on reviewing the naming of chemical ions and compounds (a pre-designated list from the student's teacher, plus the naming rules). We then moved on to predicting reactions (reading the names of ions, writing them correctly, determining what sort of reaction would occur between the reactants, and then writing the products and balancing). The student did well. She missed the classes this week describing this process, but I feel as though with some practice she'll be able to complete this section successfully."
"Today we went over DNA, DNA replication, transcription, and translation. The student was not struggling with much today. He was positive towards the material that was reviewed. I helped him understand the concept by explaining more in depth than his notes. He is doing well in both geometry and biology. He just needs to refresh and go over the material that he learned before to remember it again. We'll continue to work on that in our next session."
"Today we worked on the student's genetics project for her biology class, and we also talked about preparing for college. Most of our discussion involved writing a short answer to the questions asked in her assignment prompt so she knows what to include in her report. She is doing well with material and appears to have good study habits."
