Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I began by going over present-tense conjugation for the most common types of regular and irregular verbs. We then went over the use of "ser" vs. "estar" for different scenarios. I left her with some exercises from her textbook and gave her a guideline for the next session."
"Today the student and I reviewed what we went over yesterday, in addition to covering several more concepts. We discussed the different usages for the verbs "saber" and "conocer" and their conjugations, then worked on comparative phrases and touched upon vocabulary. Furthermore, we learned the preterite (past tense) conjugations of -er, -ir, and -ar verbs. Overall, this was an awesome session and I am already seeing improvement with her Spanish, particularly in her recognition of certain vocabulary words and her ability to conjugate verbs and put sentences together fluidly."
"We worked on the student's oral questions for part of his midterm. I noticed he didn't understand the present progressive well, so we worked on that with picture flashcards of verbs. We practiced the past tense, especially answering questions. I also explained direct object pronouns and we did additional practice on that. I asked him what other areas he's struggling with. Next week we'll do the uses of Ser / Estar, direct and indirect objects and more past tense. The student had a good attitude. He struggled a bit with remembering verbs and some vocabulary in Spanish. He does need to strengthen his foundation from level 1. We worked on using the question to help form the answer."
