Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Getting to know the student and the areas in which he has difficulties in understanding. We also went over study strategies. We reviewed the central nervous system chapter up to the most current subchapter."
"We reviewed structure and function of large biological molecules, protein structure and enzyme function. We completed an overview of materials covered to date in class."
"The student is continuing his unit on evolution and his work for today involved running a simulation online that mimicked generations of rabbits. Students could introduce mutations (white to brown fur, long teeth, etc.) or variable conditions (snow, predators, food, etc.) and observe effects over generations. The concept of natural selections was well illustrated. I explained to him how the mutational change enabled some rabbits to survive better than others. The visual demonstration of this concept was really helpful. I helped him set up the next simulation before I left and introduced a new mutation, the effects of which he could observe in the same way."
