Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a test on Wednesday, so I helped him prepare for the test. He had a practice exam, so we went over problems from that. He did well on the practice problems. Overall, I think it was a productive session, and with a little more studying on his part, he should do well on the test."
"We worked on functions in the form of f(x)=1/x and looked at how we can translate and scale the function and what that means for changing it."
"The student has started a new unit on geometry. Today, the problems were all about complementary and supplementary angles and solving problems that are logically related to these. Once he understood the vocabulary, he busted right through the homework. He also has a good grasp of parallel lines and the angle relationships when a transversal is introduced. He knows a lot of the triangle and quadrilateral vocabulary, including the recognition of special shapes and their properties. This chapter seems like an easy one for him."
"We covered multi-step equations and solving for slope intercept form from algebraic equations. In addition, we strongly reviewed and wrote notes on how to add and subtract negatives."
"We worked on two subjects. The first subject was nutrition for the student's culinary class. He used a website to learn about how different factors affect one's dietary needs. After he completed a portion of the assignment, we switched to math. For math, we covered the topics of exponential growth and decay. He required a lot of motivation to complete his math work. A skill that I taught him was to efficiently navigate a webpage to find specific information."
"The goal for today was to get the student up to speed as much as possible. We were able to cover two and a half more lessons, putting her much closer to the current status."
