Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I had the student complete a timed Synonym/Analogy practice test, and we reviewed the answers she missed and the reasoning behind the correct answers. We then spent time reviewing problems in the second math section and discussing some test taking strategies that might save her some time on the more difficult problems. In all, I think she is in good shape for the test."
"The student and I discussed her goals both in her schoolwork and in preparing for the SAT. We discussed which of her classes were the most challenging and the type of feedback that she has been receiving from her teachers for her work. Overall, the feedback and grades she has been receiving are very strong and in our future sessions we can focus on bringing her work to an even more advanced level. Primarily we worked on some practice reading passages from her SAT prep book. We discussed strategies for approaching different types of reading questions, such as using the process of elimination strategy to answer "except"ù questions and difficult vocabulary questions. We also began compiling a vocabulary list that she will add to as she prepares on her own. Over the holidays, we set up a plan that she would complete a few timed SAT test sections from her book on her own so that when we meet in January we have a better sense of where to focus her preparation."
"The twins and I finished going over our most recent reading diagnostic. We then continued studying vocabulary. Student M was much more engaged than she had been lately, and Student R was much more focused than he had been lately, so our session was very efficient."
