"For today, we reviewed what the student learned for the latter half of the week, which was derivatives in terms of velocity, acceleration, marginal cost and revenue. We also solved some problems and alleviated some of his misunderstandings about the topic. Since he understood things fairly well, we also went ahead and discussed the next two sections that they will cover next week to provide him a headstart and allow him to better understand lecture."
"We went over rational functions today. We also discussed complex numbers and complex conjugates. I get the sense that the student understands the math but has trouble remembering the rules occasionally. I think with some practice he will continue to do well on his next test."
"Review and practice point slope form, pointintercept form, and graphing. Introduced functions. Showed the student how to use google to graph quadratic functions, and recommended that he experiment with it to gain some familiarity. Next time we will also look at some geometry."
"We covered convergence and divergence tests, but only the integral convergence series test. In this, we covered different integrating techniques to solve the test... such as "u" substitution, "trig" substitution, partial fractions, and integration by parts. I left the student with extra practice with rewriting examples. No concerns, excellent session!"

He picked up the concept fairly quickly, and is good at solving for the necessary variables when the partial fraction equations are set up. We will do more practice problems so that the rules for setting up the partial fraction equations become more natural."

"We focused on using the distributive property and simplifying using factoring. She is doing well with the concept. I also showed her some new tricks and procedures she can use to show her work more appropriately."
"On Monday we briefly reviewed some of the material from last week. I think the student has really gotten the hang of that material, which is creating graphs from tables and making function rules from figures. This week we worked on a homework set that she hadn't learned parts of in class yet. I did teach her how to approach some of the problems (focused on finding the area and circumference of a circle, and unit rates and conversions). I plan on bringing some extra practice problems to our next session and some videos to go over unit conversions, ratios, and rates."

"We did some review in preparation for the student's final exam. We covered order of operations, rules for negative numbers, regression analysis and correlation coefficients. After covering that material, she felt much better and demonstrated much improvement in her understanding of linear regression. We set up another tutoring session for tomorrow at 4:00 PM. I do not have any concerns from this session."
"The student and I worked over the test that she just got back from taking last week. We worked through the problems again, and we talked about what mistakes she made. Most of the mistakes were minor and had to do with not applying the rules of exponents and rationals correctly. She should make sure that she follows those STRICTLY as she works through the remainder of the assignment. We have our next meeting set for next Tuesday at 4:30pm."
