Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Worked more on the review packet for the final. Covered some more proofs as well as concepts on regular polygons and area."
"Friday morning we continued the course into solving right triangles using trig functions and the Pythagorean Theorem. The student started working through the test and is almost to her midterm exam."
"The student and I worked on his review packet covering all of the material from this semester. His final is on Tuesday."
"We covered congruent triangles and the theorems and postulates associated with congruent triangles. The student had difficulty remembering key terms that were heavily used in the last chapter and would often guess at answers or words that were not related to the question. We also covered distance formula which he remembered but used incorrectly when trying to solve the problem. He will review the questions for his upcoming test and he felt better about the material, like he was getting a better understanding of how to solve the problems towards the end of the session."
"We covered the properties of kites. The student was struggling with the visual representation of the theorems and how to apply the theorems to solve problems and proofs. She was upbeat and candid about her struggles and the way material is presented at school. We focused on transcribing the given information onto a visual diagram and extracting prior knowledge to solve new problems. She benefited from the lesson preview previously. We will be reviewing her chapter 5 test and trapezoids in the next session."
"We reviewed some topics from algebra, specifically linear equations and their graphs (i.e., slope, intercepts), as well as further review of triangles and angles from geometry ahead of the student's midterm. He has over 100 practice problems to work through from his substitute math teacher which we will continue to review at the next session."
