Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student obtained a 165 on his practice test--within the range that we are aiming for. We worked through one game, incorrect arguments questions, and one reading comprehension passage from a new test. We are going to meet this coming Tuesday and then skip our usual Friday meeting next week (the day after Thanksgiving)."
"Today we covered logical reasoning and some logic games. The student still working on slowing down and methodically working through answer choices. Also, he will benefit from timing himself for reading sections. For next time, he is covering some practice SAT sections."
"The students and I discussed the overall plan for the sessions going forward and the students' primary needs. Then each of the students worked with me individually on a set of linear games questions. I emailed both students several other set of linear games questions for our upcoming session."
"The student and I went over his most recent practice test. He scored a 161 which is six points higher than his start point. He is still struggling with inference and assumption type questions. We practiced some of those and also a reading comprehension and logical reasoning section."
"The student and I focused on logical reasoning, specifically weaken and strengthen questions. For each type, I went through the specifics of what to look for in the stimulus (premise, conclusion, assumption, points of vulnerability, flaws) and how to predict an answer before reading the choices. We then did a group of practice questions of each type before moving on to problem sets. Next session, we will most likely review what she works on in her class, since she is taking another practice test in the next few days."
"The student and I finished going over her practice test, diving deep into a RC passage as well as some more flaw/assumption questions. We talked a little bit about how to deny necessary assumptions but will continue to work on that. On Monday we are going to work on some quantifiers!"
