Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over graphing equations like x3-9/x2-4. We went over how to find the zeros, the asymptotes, and the end behavior."
"Log, exponential functions and basic functions (half-life, population growth), the unit circle, understanding functions. Test prep."
"We went over trigonometric identities with polar coordinates. By the end of the session, the student demonstrated the ability to do the problems correctly by himself."
"The student was reviewing for a test covering vectors and was confused about mostly the notation and terminology being used. She had notes taken from watching videos but didn't understand what the examples showed. We went through her notes and examples, and I explained the parts she didn't understand. Then, she had a number of problems to work through, so we did examples of those together. She said she felt better about the material when the session ended."
"Today, we covered the conics section of pre-calculus, with focus on ellipses and parabolas. The student was not familiar with how to identify the endpoints and foci of an ellipse and how to determine the direction of a parabola. The student was very eager and took initiative in what she wanted to review and learn. During this session, we went over techniques and strategies to help her graph and identify conic functions on her exam. This session, we successfully covered ellipses and saw improvement when we worked out practice problems that grew in difficulty."
"The student and I prepared for his upcoming physics test on electrostatics and circuit analysis. We also worked on a few related problems similar to those tested on the AP physics test. We also covered the Mean Value Theorem and derivatives' use for studying the shape of a function."
