Henryville Tutoring FAQ

Henryville, a census-designated place in Indiana, is a part of Clark County, and helps to form the Monroe Township. The village was originally known as Morristown at the time of its establishment in 1850, but it later changed its name to Henryville in 1853 to honor Pennsylvanian militiaman Colonel Henry Ferguson. Henryville also happens to be the birthplace of Colonel Harland Sanders, the man who founded Kentucky Fried Chicken. The community's population is currently around 2,000 people.

Many students in the community attend Henryville Junior and Senior High School, which is in the West Clark Community Schools District. The larger city of Louisville is only 20 miles south of Henryville, making it very possible to enroll in one of the city's excellent colleges or universities. Some of these renowned schools include the University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, Spalding University, and Boyce College. Are you looking for private instruction to help you get into your top college? Online or in-home test prep tutoring in Henryville, IN, is available to help you work towards your goals. One unique spot to visit in Henryville is Clark State Forest, which is the oldest state forest in the entire state. This forest, established in 1903, spans over a stunning 24,000 acres of land. This forest also played an important role in turning forestry into a science and profession, as it was used as an experimental forest for various plantings for most of its history.

Many Henryville residents visit Louisville frequently for the city's many cultural attractions and fun locations. One quintessential stop in this city is the Louisville Waterfront Park, which has well maintained grounds and a lovely walking bridge. This area is perfect for having a picnic, taking a relaxing walk by the river, or even simply sitting down and people watching. Another interesting place to visit is the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, which is an elegant and historic Victorian-style mansion in Old Louisville. An ornate courtyard home surrounds this grand museum, and its neighborhood has more Victorian homes concentrated in one area than anywhere else in the Unites States.

Tutoring review by Alan in Henryville, KY
Today, the student and I went over basic geometric concepts. I introduced him to the formulas needed to calculate the areas and perimeters of squares, rectangles, and triangles. We also touched briefly on how to calculate surface areas for shapes that are constructed by one or more of the previously stated shapes. Finally, I gave him three word problems to work on. Although he initially had difficulty working with the word problems, we went over strategies to tackle these types of questions by writing down common words that would appear and how they would refer us to the length or width of shapes. I ended by assigning the student with extra word problems to work on for homework.

Today was a continuation of the Pythagorean Theorem as well as identifying adjacent, complementary and supplementary angles. The student needs a little more practice in all of these areas, but he is steadily improving.

Tutoring review by Padraic in Henryville, KY
During our final session for the summer before the student starts school, she worked on finishing her summer math packet and making sure her summer reading questions are answered. We picked back up with the second to last group of questions in her math packet, which involved factoring polynomials in order to find the values that make the equation true, also known as the roots of the function. We then moved on the final group of questions in the packet, algebraically rearranging given equations of lines in order to put them in slope-intercept form. The student did an outstanding job thinking through the steps of the problems, and after she finished her summer math packet we discussed her summer reading assignment and the new material she had encountered in her book. We ended with a quick review of each type of problem included in the math packet, all of which she remembered how to solve very well.

We covered product rule, power rule, continuity, differentiability, and the quotient rule. We went over the student's hw on continuity and limits, and did a little review on derivatives in relation to position functions, and velocity. We previewed the chain rule. The student was on task and focused.

Tutoring review by Kendra in Henryville, KY
Today the student had some homework. It involved graphing from a function chart and also looking at a graph of a function to answer questions. She was done with it very quickly, so we moved on to something a bit more challenging. We spent some time graphing systems of equations. With those graphs, I had her compare the slope and the lines. We spent the last 20 minutes on a test prep website. I had her evaluate "advanced functions" and answer some questions about range and domain of functions. She did extremely well overall.

Tutoring review by Holly in Henryville, KY
The student and I reviewed congruency of triangles, the ASA AAS SSS etc. theorems, bisecting angles, bisecting sides, and isosceles and equilateral triangles! She is such a sweet girl and was honestly so great to tutor. She is insightful and attentive, and I can tell she's working really hard to do well! We went over problems of varying difficulty, starting with some that were fewer steps and working our way up to longer geometry proofs. She struggles more with proofs than she does with other types of problems, so I tried to give her some tips for how to think through a proof and not get stuck in the middle. I think the session went really well, and hopefully she will do well on her quiz! I definitely think that she will.
