Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I covered the following concepts during the session: Math: probabilities and finding median, mean, and mode. Reading: reading comprehension. The student had some difficulty with probabilities and finding median, mean, and mode at first but was able to figure it out. I showed how probabilities work by using a die as a example. I also emphasized that probabilities needs to be multiplied when calculating the probability of two events. For reading, he did very well. He read a poem and answered comprehension questions. His attitude toward the material was neutral."
"I left the student with a pre-test to gauge strengths and weaknesses. Tonight we worked on parallel and perpendicular lines. She is easy going and catches on quickly. She was able to complete homework and discussed how we could move forward from here in her learning."
"I met with her today at 5pm and tutored her until about 6pm. We went over her homework assignment and I helped her go over each question. I showed her how to do problems she did not know and asked her to do the rest on our own. I offered my help whenever she needed it. I also reviewed positive and negatives with her."
"I met with the student and his parents to go over his academic needs first. He is doing fairly well in his Alg 1 class in school, but struggling with Alg 1A online. He was unable to login to his online class, so I asked him to show me his work on an Alg worksheet I had with me. He had no issues with one-step equations. After that, I asked him to score himself on a learning styles survey. We determined that he is primarily auditory and went over strategies that may help. I look forward to working with him again."
"I met with the student today, as an exam is coming up on 2D transformations, including rotations, reflections, and translations. He needed a lot of practice working on the degrees on rotation, but he seemed to understand it at the end."
"I provided homework help for the student with his Geometry worksheet, as well as his online assignment. We mainly focused on the basic construction of lines and angles using a compass. I was able to explain the basic concepts and steps; however, I would like to give him more hands-on practice using the compass to copy angles during our next session."
