Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did 3-variable solutions, which devolved to a discussion of prime factorization and binomial expansions. Then we transitioned to number theory, mostly integers (bases, primes, sequences), and finished with an introduction to data sufficiency. I urged the student to get some flashcards for multiplication tables up to 16, squares to 16, cubes to 7, factorials to 7...had to explain about factorial. We also had a discussion about getting GMAT review materials. I think that she will not be ready for the GMAT in April. She wants to get this done (GMAT)before she goes on an internship to Barcelona in May."
"The student and I had a good session going over word problems. We covered the general strategy of breaking down each problem into two timed parts : 1) tackling the general strategy (reading aloud the question, defining the variable, etc.) and 2) crunching the numbers (writing equations clearly, do not skip steps)."
"Today we solved problems involving number sets and rates. The student is improving, but I cautioned him to be more conscientious about what the data in graphs and tables are showing and exactly what the question is asking."
