Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student showed real progress on percents and factoring and grasped some difficult exponent concepts quickly."
"Initial session. We concentrated on general algebra concepts...exponents, factoring, solving for one equation, basic algebraic manipulation. Next week: Introduce data sufficiency, stay with basic algebra, and perhaps number theory, more manipulations. She has pretty solid algebra skills but they're a bit petrified from hibernation, so we're knocking the rust off."
"We covered 3 reading comprehension passages as well as ~15 critical reasoning passages; I am seeing a lot of improvement and great strategies at work here!"
"Today the student brought QR problems she had questions on from the DAT practice tests. We looked at some complicated reflecting ray/ trig/ ellipse questions (which I mentioned may be a little more difficult than the majority of DAT math), solution/ dilution calculations, and probabilities and percentages. For each of the questions we looked at, we went through why the answer choice was correct, multiple ways to solve the problem types, and alternative ways to look at and understand the questions."
"We covered angle ranking and reading comprehension. We went through all the strategies for reading comprehension, and then I told the student the one I preferred, giving her explanations and pointers. Then, we moved on to angle ranking. We talked about techniques for a little then did some practice problems. In the final half hour, we talked about other sections and what to study for those."
