Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, I asked the student to do the essays from parts 5 and 6 as well 6's math sections. She was only able to do the math. First, we scored the math sections. She got between 500 and 560 on it. She does well enough on the multiple-choice math questions. So, we focused on the student-generated response questions from her math homework. Doing that, I covered percentages, how to set up equations, percents, and polygons. She definitely got these topics. I'm hoping more focus on these student-generated response questions will help build her confidence with them. We spent the last 30 minutes of the session outlining an essay for part 6's prompt. Through this exercise, I showed her how to write an effective introduction for the SAT essay, and more importantly, I helped her come up with ideas for her body paragraphs. By helping her, I wanted to show her what kinds of examples she should be striving for. For homework, I assigned again the essays from parts 5 and 6. I also assigned the math sections from part 7, as well as part 6's writing sections. Lastly, I told her to find her calculator."
