Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the alphabet and reading. The student struggled the a bit with remembering what sounds go with what letters. I recommended that her father continue reading with her, and we will continue to work on reading as well."
"Worked on detail recall from a story. The student does well with this when she draws pictures or takes notes. She is continuing to improve on identifying tone but needs to continue reviewing this."
"The student learned new materials that were above grade level. Developed skills for speed reading, vocabulary, sentence structure. Began test prep reading for diagnostic testing."
"During today's session, we practiced with reading fluency and reading for comprehension. The student read several passages aloud and answered questions that were asked during his reading. We also worked on context clues. He completed an interactive activity that required him to use context clues in passages to find the meaning of unfamiliar words. He was successful in using the clues to find the meaning of the words. We will continue to practice reading for fluency."
"During today's session, we worked on sight words both at the 1st grade and 2nd grade level. In math, we worked on subtracting double-digit numbers and place value in tens and ones. We did sentence writing and ended the session with reading leveled books at levels D and E."
"First, we did a quiz of spelling list #2. Second, the student summarized her independent reading book "Hank Finds Inspiration." She presented detailed picture summaries of main events. We discussed the concept of figurative meanings. Third, we finished reading "The Invisible Boy" and discussed characters, conflict/resolution, and prediction. Finally, she read her weekend story. For our next lesson, she should make picture summaries for each of her independent reading books, as well as write weekend summaries."
