Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the definitions of a function and a relation. We also studied transformations, including vertical translations, horizontal translations, and compressed functions. In addition, we discussed linear and exponential models and how to apply them. Finally, we reviewed how to factor a quadratic equation. I gave the student some practice problems including functions and relations, and graphing equations with inequalities. The student has a great attitude toward learning the material."
"Today, we began reviewing for the student's upcoming final exam. We reviewed the packet of problems the teacher assigned for the students. We spent a good deal of team reviewing the Rational Root Theorem, exponentials and logarithms, and the domain of functions. The student did very well in remembering how to solve logarithmic equations!"
"The student and I went over an AP exam review provided by her teacher. We discussed limits, the mean value theorem, the mean value theorem for derivatives, and other concepts in calculus. She understands all of these concepts, and review is going well. We will continue reviewing next week, when we will go over some free response questions from the AP exam."
"The student and I covered a variety of algebra subjects today. She had a few review packets we worked through. We spent a bit of time solving systems of equations using substitution and elimination. We also talked about graphing lines and finding point on a line from an equation. The packets also covered how to determine if a set of data has a linear rate of change. The student grasped this material well and continuing to review her class materials will leave her well prepared for her end of year exam."
"The student and I went over her test review and got through most with the exception of a few. We are going to go over those more closely tonight. We went over many concepts including factoring, simplifying radicals, fractions, variables, etc. We also went over inequalities, domain of functions, cross multiplying, word problems involving hourly rate. This was all in prep for her test tomorrow. I offered her names of a few videos to watch including one of synthetic division which she wasn't aware of previously but was needed to complete one of the practice problems. I plan to have more practice problems set up for tonight going into tomorrow as well."
"The student and I began to review math for his final exam. He is very bright and has the capability to do well on this exam."
