Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Prepared for test. Listed properties of equality. Completed two-column proofs. Formed logical conditionals and biconditionals using Venn diagrams. Identified properties of supplementary, complementary and vertical angles, and linear pairs of angles. Reviewed area of a circle and a square; classes of quadrilateral."
"Second session and FIRST of the real school year! I like her teacher from what I can see--he's teaching concepts well with lots of rote practice, which can be boring for both educators AND students, but I think it's crucial. Today we covered: rate, time, and distance; percentage; word problems; starting and final volumes; thinking about math logically; working with order of operations and fractions; and touched briefly on dimensional analysis. I'm sure she'll do well on her quiz tomorrow! She is VERY good at following a formula, which will stand her in good stead as we get into proofs."
"She and I began studying for her 9-weeks exam. She has done very well on every unit so far, so I'm sure she will do great on this exam. Her teacher gave the class a list of concepts that will be on the exam, which we used to make a study guide."
"She and I covered logic and reasoning. We reviewed her study guide and worked extensively on proofs. She is doing well at all types of problems, including difficult proofs. She has no additional practice for next month's session."
"She and I covered proofs involving parallel lines, transversals, perpendicular lines, alternating interior angles, alternating exterior angles, and corresponding angles. She is doing very well understanding these concepts."
"She and I had a very productive session, starting by going over perimeter and circumference formulas in detail. We also examined verb, noun, and pronoun conjugations from her Latin class to work on recognizing patterns."
