"Today was a great session with the student! He is continuing to work on factoring, so we first finished his homework, which included information on finding the greatest common factor. He had no issues with any of the problems which is great! To continue practicing factoring, we worked on some prime factor trees, with him pulling out prime factors of numbers. He did really well on those also once he got the hang of it (it was a new concept for him). I think he's getting a lot more comfortable with factoring!"
"Today was a great session. In today's activity, the student was asked to be the teacher. He was able to look at ten multiplication problems (double-digit multiplication), and find the error made in the solving process. He did a great job finding the mistakes, and was able to explain the process in words as to how he would solve it correctly. Next week, we will focus on more concentration activities."
"Today was a very good start of the school year session with the student. She was very eager to show me her homework sheet with all of the first week's homework, and after that, I showed her the homework planner I had made for her. I think it's a good idea for her to get used to doing homework on her own and planning her time wisely, so I made a chart to help her decide which homework to do on a specific day. She seemed excited about it, especially since we figured out a reward system to go with it."
"Today was our first lesson. She was a bit nervous about help at first, but once she came into it and started working with me, her apprehension seemed to go away. We talked about what she talked about this week in math, including place value and agreed to move forward with next week. Her teacher can give her some materials for her to work on with me. She doesn't have a camera, so we just used the telephone, and she was able to see me, which worked well enough. I hope to help her more!"
"Today was our first meet/greet session, so we spent most of the time trying to get the student to learn how to focus and accept me as his tutor. I got him to do maybe 10 minutes of work with a game involving spelling words and counting by 2's. We will keep working to see if we can establish a working relationship and find a way for him to work with me to get some stuff accomplished during the session."
"Today was our first session. We went over addition in columns with 4, 5, and 6 digits and long division. The student was very engaged and responded very well to the session."
