Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on some homework corrections and then looked at two new sections. We made it through as much as we could. She had a great attitude! Good job!"
"The student has a Geometry Chapter 7 test tomorrow, so we were going over his review worksheet, and along the way (and afterwards) I was generating problems and exercises focusing on concepts that he was having trouble with. The material covered is ratios, similar polygons, theorems/postulates/corollaries relating to similar shapes and setting up proportions."
"We worked on homework problems from section 14.7 in the textbook. Topics consisted primarily of directional derivatives, but also included partial derivatives and gradients, as well as review from Calculus 1 and 2. The student is doing a great job with comprehension of the material and he understands the calculus really well. We will continue to practice and work in this in our upcoming sessions."
"Today the student and I worked on his math homework. It involved using variables, combining like terms, and the distribution rule. He did very well on the combining like variables portion. It was a great session."
"The student had a homework sheet covering solving and graphing inequalities. We worked on the step by step process in order to get the variable on one side. We discussed that if you multiply or divide by a negative number the equality sign reverses. I left him with 6 examples that we worked together for him to refer to."
"The student and I went over the factoring sheet I assigned him for homework, began review for the placement exam, and finished the lesson by reviewing materials for his midterm. He is struggling to understand the instructions on the worksheets - he is still a bit unsure on how to start the problems, but when I remind him of the materials we went over, he does the problems quickly and correctly. I will be leaving him more "steps" on how to approach different problems/ directions for the future. For the placement exam material, he knows how to approach and solve many of the problems. However, a lot of them are wordy, and he loses focus. We will be focusing on solving word problems and going through them step by step. For his assignment, I left him the exam practice booklet and asked him to read through the sections describing how to approach the questions and helpful tips. I also left him a worksheet on solving equations."
