Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student informed me that his grade had increased from a D to a B in the time that we've been working together! We did his homework on exponential functions and had a brief discussion on their utility to model real world phenomena. We also did a little bit of work on logarithms in anticipation for their appearance in class."
"Since the student had a quiz coming up the day after our session, we primarily focused on the subject covered on the quiz, inverse functions. We began by working through a practice quiz he had from his class which covered reflecting graphs over the line y=x, finding the inverse of a function, verifying that two functions are inverses of each other, and finding domain/range of a function and its inverse. After he had completed the practice quiz, we worked through some more practice problems that I had brought with me for our session."
"We did some examples together on finding local extrema and absolute extrema. He is understanding the process for finding local extrema, but needs more practice in absolute because there are more steps."
"We went through a 4th grade study book. We blew through the first few chapters that he knew how to do. We just did one problem from each section. Then we landed on fractions. I introduced adding and multiplying fractions. And I also taught him how to turn a fraction into a decimal, and a decimal into a fraction."
"The first thing that she told me was that she had a math test the next day. From the work that we had covered so far, I was confident that she knew her material. We went over some sample problems her teacher had assigned and worked through them. She expressed confidence that she will do well on her test."
"Today the student and I went over her last math test. In our prior sessions she demonstrated a good knowledge of the subject she was tested on. Overall I am pleased with her progress."
