"The student and I worked on her homework. We covered basic trigonometry (sine, cosine and tangent) in figures and word problems. She did a great job!!"
"The student completed 2 Geometry assignments: the first was about similar shapes and taking the proportion of the measurements, the second was an introduction to sin, cos, tan. Both of these assignments were easy for the student. I had him repeat the definitions of SIN, COS, TAN and he could do this. There was no new chemistry work, but I quizzed him on the molarity concept and he seemed to understand the idea."
"In the last session with the student, we worked on her geometry/algebra homework. We specifically reviewed root rules mainly how to rationalize the denominator. The student needed some guidance at the beginning of the session but then easily worked through the rest of her homework."
"Today was our first session. We began with me asking the student some questions about where he stands in the class, and where he would like to focus on strengthening and improving skills and concepts. I learned that he is a kinesthetic learner but also enjoys listening. Because he had a test today on the introduction to proofs (material he felt very confident about), we decided to go over material from his first test, which he didn't do too well on. This involved reviewing some algebra 1 concepts such as the midpoint formula and distance formula. After a few practice problems and clarification, he was able to proceed through the problems with very little guidance. We then proceeded to go over problems from a packet that he saw to be most challenging - this included algebra 1 and geometry concepts, such as vertical angles. He approached his first session with a very open and positive attitude! He was very receptive to explanations and didn't hesitate to ask when something confused him. We left today's session with some tips on how to study. This included flash cards, which may benefit him for remembering his postulates and times tables. We will be beginning our next session with a small pop quiz on the material from his flashcards."
"We went over geometric postulates again. This time we focused on congruence and the transitive properties."
"The student and I had a great first session. He has a test tomorrow about logic and reasoning. It is very hard material, and very different than what he is used to. However, we spent a lot of time working through the material, and developing tricks and definitions to help him keep the vocabulary straight. He felt very confident with the material when the session was over. I asked him to rate his preparedness on a scale of 10, and he said 9.5. Good luck on the test!"
