"The student and I worked on a review sheet of questions pertaining to inverse trigonometric functions. We reviewed the characteristics of the graphs for the three inverse trig functions, and used examples to illustrate how the angles are found for inverse trig expressions."
"The student and I worked on her latest pre-calculus problem set, which included graphing rational functions and solving rational function inequalities. We worked on about three problems in total -- two on all the steps to go through for tackling a graphing problem and one on how to approach solving an inequality problem, i.e., finding the solution set of x values that satisfy the inequality. I think she is going to do quite well on the last test before the midterm."
"The student and I worked on her semester review packet, spending most of the time on solving systems of linear equations. She is doing okay with the algebra involved, but she has a weak understanding of what the algebraic notation means with respect to real-world problems. She tends to be dependent on her calculator for even simple arithmetic and has trouble working through multiple steps in a procedure. I am trying to encourage her by using real-world examples and explanations of how this math can be related to her everyday life."
"The student and I worked on imaginary numbers again. This time, we worked on factoring polynomials with imaginary zeros using synthetic division, the quadratic formula, and factoring. She did really well with this material. She has an assessment tomorrow, and then her final in two weeks, so we worked out a schedule to study for the final."
"The student and I worked on law of sines and the various geometric properties that help out with those types of problems. Her main challenge was drawing the pictures accurately from the word problems. Once she had the picture, she was good at using the rule. Her attitude was good! The main strategy is for her to draw the picture for each problem, even one is given."
"The student and I worked on related rates. After the first couple of problems, she understood the general idea of the process."
