"The student and I worked on math, phonics, and reading concepts. In math, she showed improvement in number word recognition, and more practice is needed to make the connections for full mastery. We used oral and guided strategies, and pictures to form patterns that elicit connections. In phonics, we focused on the sounds of f, g, and h. We used oral strategies and made word and picture associations. She did not show any struggles with these three letters. In reading, we continued with our short vowel a story. We used guided reading and sound association to read the story. I left her with extra practice. Her attitude was receptive."
"The student and I worked on more mathematics, specifically on navigating difficult math problems by utilizing my 4-square problem solving model. With reading, we continued to work on reading comprehension skills with nonfiction reading samples. I focused on how to navigate while answering test prep questions."
"The student and I worked on solving complex word problems by using the order of operations. We focused on fractions, whole numbers, positive and negative integers, and decimals. She is continuing to make great progress."
"The student and I worked on some inequalities, proportions, percentiles and forming equations for word problems. We worked through a bunch of problems and she seemed to grasp the concepts by the end of the session."
"The student and I worked on the math exam. We covered section 1, mostly together. In an attempt to cover as much of the 9 sections of the exam, he will work on questions 29-36 on his own. We also started section 2, covering up to question 19. For section 2, he will work on questions 12-15 on his own."
"The student and I worked on word problems in today's session. She mentioned she is still having difficulty with using bar models to solve these problems. I created several word problems, which we then broke down step by step. With support she is able to complete these problems. She needs help figuring out what the problem is asking her to do and what steps she needs to take to solve it. We also worked on strategies to strengthen her computation skills. I asked the student to share her "math thoughts" aloud while she is working. That way I understand her approach to the problem and can help her adjust course when necessary."
