Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on logarithms and log properties, as well as the basics of graphing logs. No major struggles, once the student learned the material he applied it well. No new strategies were covered, we just worked on focusing on learning the material. Extra practice is finishing off the homework."
"We worked on problems involving the law of sines and the law of cosines. The student did well with material that was somewhat unfamiliar to her. She is behind, so we are working to catch her up on what she has missed. This can be difficult, but she seemed to grasp everything we worked on."
"We worked on related rates and implicit differentiation. We did practice problems, walked through the steps to set these problems up and solve them, and interpreted answers in the context of the word problems."
"We worked on review for Pre calc, solving inequalities, factoring polynomial functions, and trigonometric functions. We utilized online problems for practice. At the end, we also went over concepts in Physics on Newton's second law."
"We worked on test review problems since the student's final is next week. Once he gets going on the problems, he knows what to do. We have one more session next week, a day before his final."
"We worked on two problems dealing with finding all of the zeroes of a polynomial in the complex plane. In particular, we discussed the fact that any zeros of a polynomial must have a numerator that divides into the constant term of the polynomial and a denominator that divides into the leading term of the polynomial, and then we utilized this fact to list all potential zeros. From there, it was just a matter of plugging in our potential zeros to find which of them actually was a zero and then utilizing synthetic division to factor. Once the power of the polynomial was 2 or less, we then utilized the quadratic formula or factoring techniques to find the remaining zeros."
