Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we did inequalities and compound inequalities, and a little bit of absolute value work too. The only issues the student was having were with absolute values where there are no solutions, and compound inequalities where there are no solutions. Other than that, there were just a few things to clarify about working with inequalities, but as long as she does problems carefully, I don't imagine she'll have any problem with them. We'll be meeting again on Thursday to review for her test on Friday, but as for what we covered today, I think she's solid."
"Today we modeled functions based on various real-world situations. The student caught on to the concepts faster than before, and we were able to get a lot of problems accomplished together. We made solid progress on unit 2, and he was able to work on problems more independently."
"Today we reviewed for a test the student has this week. The test covers two- and three-step equations, plotting coordinates and lines on graphs, and finding the equation of a line from a pair of coordinates. She displayed a very good understanding of these topics, and would benefit from some additional practice with the algebra portion."
"Today we reviewed her homework packet to make sure she understood all of the concepts. She learned how to solve and graph inequalities with two variables. She had an understanding of the methods at the end of the session, and this will be reviewed again on Monday."
"Today we reviewed homework, covering definitions and properties of parallel and perpendicular lines, and even looking up a mnemonic to help remember. The student spent some time gathering data for a project, and we talked about how the display would look, and possible variations based on his teacher's approval."
"Today we reviewed how to add fractions, use percentages, and convert numbers from improper fractions to mixed numbers. The student understood everything. She will retake her accuplacer Friday. We plan to do a test review tomorrow."
